In the Vineyards
Walker Bay is making great inroads with Bordeaux varieties. Nudged by the Bot River lagoon with vistas of the Atlantic Ocean, the vineyards enjoy cool daytime temperatures that drop even more at night. A beneficial diurnal range aids in even ripening and complexity, ushering the development of delicate fruit notes, fine tannin structure and a bright acidity. Malbec found a home here and the vineyards enjoy the nuances of the climate, resulting in beautiful and concentrated fruit.

In the Cellar
Harvested at optimal ripeness, grapes were chilled overnight followed by both bunch- and berry sorting the next morning. After a three-day cold maceration, the juice was allowed to warm up to 16℃. To enhance the varietals intrinsic qualities, the juice was inoculated with a selected yeast strain. Alcoholic fermentation lasted about six days. Gentle pump overs encouraged delicate flavour and colour extraction. Pressed and settled, the wine was transferred to barrel for malolactic fermentation to further smooth out its edges.
Oak maturation: 18 months | Production: 10 barrels
The intensity of colour will romance you and deliver on an equally intense palate. Layered aromas of mulberry, boiled sweets, dried herbs and cinnamon are followed by nuances of liquorice, blueberries and Szechuan pepper on the palate. Beautifully balanced fruit, tannins and a youthful acidity are indicative of the aging potential of this Malbec and what is to come.
This wine delivers on pure fruit that will benefit the wine in the long run. The fruit is caressed with a cool, spicy note that adds freshness. Tightly knit tannins and an electric purple hue are indicative of youth and longevity. Distinct and delivering on intensity, length and balance.
